“The Big 33 is Much More Than a Game”
THE MISSION OF THE BIG 33 SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION, INC. is to showcase and develop excellence in students and the community, by raising funds for academic scholarships and other charitable events, through the premiere High School all star football game and other athletic endeavors. Since 1985, over 4 million dollars has been raised for academic scholarships.
Originating in 1957, the Big 33 Football Classic is one of the nation’s finest scholastic All-Star Football Games highlighting Pennsylvania and Maryland’s outstanding high school athletes. Now entering its 56th year, the classic is often described as “The Super Bowl of High School Football.”
Many players are recruited by Division I colleges and universities and go on to professional careers in the NFL. There has never been a Super Bowl without a Big 33 Alumni. Some of our most well-known alums include: Tony Dorsett, Matt Millen, Joe Montana, Joe Namath, John Cappelletti, Dan Marino, Jim Kelly, Rocket Ismail, Kerry Collins and more recently Kyle Brady, Orlando Pace, Ricky Watters, Antonio Freeman, Ed McCaffrey, Marvin Harrison, Sean Gilbert, Curtis Martin, Ben Roethlisberger.
“Much More Than a Game” The Big 33 Football Classic promotes excellence in students and the community by involving players, cheerleaders, buddies, host families, and scholarship winners in a variety of activities during game week.
